Maine’s fishing industry brought the first settlers to Maine and has created gainful employment for Mainers ever since. Some people point to the collapse of specific fish stocks as an indication of this industry’s decline. I disagree. Entrepreneurs are realizing that Maine’s unique coastline and inland waterways are perfect for aquaculture. As a legislator, I will encourage the Maine State Government increases its support of our marine food industry.
Upon leaving the active-duty Navy, I was grateful for the part-time work in our fishing industry.
